Evrytime i insert any cd, my DVD rom prompt me to format the cd. it doesnt detect ant cd or dvd. pls hlp......

Are you running Vista? Vista needs the CD to be finalized before it will read it properly. Whereas, XP doesn't care. To finalize the CD, put it back into the computer that made it and finalize it. Or I'm sure with a bit of googling you could find it on the Internet.
